Instructors

Bannister, James Mr.

I started training martial arts in 2005 with my 3 brothers. I didn't want to train at first but my parents made a deal with me that I could quit if I didn't like it after a month.

Needless to say after I got my first belt I was hooked! My parents had originally signed us up as a way to get physical exercise as well as a social activity. Since we were all home-schooled the classes really helped with gaining confidence and learning to properly socialize.

I have been teaching now for over 9 years and have been running a great martial arts studio in downtown Titusville with my wife April and my brother Israel for 5 years . I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt in the Chuck Norris System and a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Cole, Mrs. Michelle

As the oldest child of seven, I have been teaching in some manner basically my whole life.  It seemed very natural for me to enter the teaching field especially after receiving national and state teaching scholarships.  I met my wonderful husband, Marty at a Baptist Campus Ministry meeting at UCF, and we will be celebrating our 27th anniversary in August.  After college, I taught in public schools for over ten years before becoming a mom to my two children.  We have been homeschooling for over ten years now and look forward to many more. This is our seventh year of being blessed by being a part of the NBHSA Tuesday Co-op.  I look forward to the smiles and hugs each week from my students as we grow and learn together that math can be exciting and fun.

NEW!!! Collins, Heather Mrs.

The beauty of creation surrounds us! Light and shadows, color, texture, shape.

I love to discover where the students express themselves in art. Then to begin at their skill levels and start to develop, explore and grow! As an artist I am ‘drawn’ to painting people and I share this deep appreciation of the beauty of the human being, as well as the fun way to express ourselves in cartoons and illustrations. I also share my love of nature and animals and how to simplify their abstract shapes in art.

I find that a variety of mediums in drawing and painting are arrows in the quiver to capture and express inspiration when it strikes!

I also love to share the rich history of the beauty of the Masters in Art, and how much we can learn from them.

Deimeke, Mrs. Sharise

I have been thrilled to pass on my love for theatre to this home school community for the last 7 years. I look forward to directing a new show each year and teaching all the lessons involved in theatre that are also very big life lessons as well. I love taking the shyest of students and giving them a chance to shine. I absolutely love watching the gifts God has tucked into them blossom and grow. Theatre mimics life in so many ways. It is my desire to speak life into my students, to help them see their greatest potential and to watch them grow their confidence, all things I think pay off big later in their lives.  Together we create, we change, we grow and we learn. All culminating in an amazing production in which they make memories that last a lifetime.

Ferraro, Mrs. Pamela

My husband went to a Ligonier Ministry conference in the early 90's. I stayed home with our baby. When he came home and told me about the conference, one of the things he mentioned was that during worship, there was a woman that moved her hands like a ballet to the words. I was so touched by his description of the event that I went to the local library, checked out a signing dictionary and started teaching myself to sign. My only purpose was for worship songs. I quickly discovered that this led me to study the words I was singing to God and to broaden my focus to scripture, everyday life vocabulary and teaching. This is way before "baby sign." I also found that it helped me to remember things through visual & tactical learning. One church we attended offered classes and I took the "Joy of Signing" class, which ended in selecting a song and signing it for the class. Later, I took a class from the signing ministry "Rock the Silence."  Also have taken ASL I and ASL II from EFSC under Sharon Good. I have attended a "silent retreat" sponsored by the Southern Baptist convention and also taken an Interpreter's session led by Carter Beardon, a renowned Deaf Minister.  I have been sharing my love of sign since I started learning. I have held classes for all ages in a variety of venues. I helped encourage a seniors program in Eglin AFB at Bob Hope Village for my mom. I developed and facilitate "Silent Bingo" through the Port St. John Children's Library. Its purpose is to open awareness while having fun of sign language, its benefits and Deaf Culture. I also offer periodic classes at the library that help the students to use their skills and help volunteer in the community. Started and coordinated for many years a Signing Ministry at Coastal Community Church with the goal of blessing all people through the beautiful gift of signing and providing the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing with the option to come and receive the gospel. We have found that the signing in churches have blessed the Hearing and opened up opportunities for them to learn sign language and develop relationships with the Deaf. I organized a Signing Team, "SignOut", for the purpose of taking that joy of signing out into the community and into the churches. It was an amazing opportunity for the students. Enabled and worked with Zenaida Astone, who is Deaf, in providing a positive environment to learn and practice signing. Every day I learn new things and it is my privilege to share what God has so graciously given me.

NEW!!! Kennelly, Melissa Mrs.

I grew up here in Florida and I was homeschooled from kindergarten until college where I received my associate degree in Sign Language Interpreting. I have 6 children and have started my 9th year homeschooling. It is the hardest and best thing I’ve done! After college I worked for the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind as well as the National Deaf Academy. I also worked as a BabySigns Instructor and taught high school and elementary sign language co-op classes. All my babies were signing by 9 months and I truly believe this language benefits children in their cognitive and physical development. I have always loved memorizing! In high school I went to Internationals 3 times for being one of the top 5 Bible quizzers in Florida. My teams memorized the entire books of Hebrews, 1st and 2nd Peter, Matthew, Romans, and James. I also taught several elementary co-op memorization classes. I strongly believe learning how to memorize benefits both children and adults in school, work, and life. Memorizing is something I have instilled in my children from an early age and I love to see their enthusiasm for all they can retain.

I have been married to my loving and devoted husband for 25 years and we are blessed with nine beautiful children.  I received my Bachelors in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, NE and enjoyed being a NICU, OB, Pediatric Nurse for several years.  Even though nursing was very rewarding, I knew I needed to be home with my children.  So we began our homeschooling journey 17 years ago.  During this time, my husband and I started to do medical foster care.  We have cared for children that were in foster care for over 15 years and it has been the most difficult but the most rewarding experience.  We are so thankful that the Lord has brought us on this journey of faith…. And that He has brought us five beautiful children that we have been able to adopt…calling them our own.  I truly love children. I love their curiosity and eagerness to learn.  I love to give them the tools to use their own creative ability and unique self.  I am so excited to give your child an opportunity to use their own creativity and learn about God’s creation along the way.

I have always been interested in fiber arts, dabbling in knitting and cross stitch in my childhood. But it was about six years ago, when my first was just a little baby, when I came across a picture of crocheted adorable baby booties on the internet and I knew I had to make them. With a little help from a Mrs. Pamela Ferraro to get me started, and about 50 baby booties later, I was hooked. Crochet has been my passion ever since and I am excited to begin sharing it with others!

Venable, Annie Mrs.

My husband, Tony, and I have four children ranging in age from 10 to 24.  We have homeschooled for 15 years and have been a part of the NBHSA Tuesday co-op for 10.  Before homeschooling, I spent two years as a classroom teacher in a private Christian school. I have also worked extensively with preschool and children’s choirs in my church and teach private piano lessons.  In 2012 I got to combine my love for teaching with my passion for music and began teaching the preschool and elementary music classes at Tuesday co-op.  After taking a break in 2016 to spend more time with my family I got to return last year as the Five in a Row instructor.  Now I am excited to have the opportunity to transition back to preschool and elementary music.  I enjoy teaching musical concepts in a variety of ways by incorporating rhythm instruments, melody bells, and even crafts.  It also amazes me how facts can be retained so much easier when they are paired with a melody.  I love to help students memorize scripture and other concepts such as the order of the planets, colors of the rainbow, books of the Bible, and even historical facts through the context of songs.  Some of the productions my elementary classes have done in the past include “I Witness News, Live from Jericho”, “America the Land of the Free”, “Christmas in Reverse”, “A Tribute to the 50’s”, and “Willy Wonka Kids”.  My overall desire is to teach the students to use their music as a means to praise God and bless others.  I especially enjoy taking children to perform in nursing homes where they have the chance to spread joy.
