Parents and Students,
I would like to introduce myself to all of you.
I am a native of Titusville and a musician from the age of 10 years old. I began learning accordion in 5th grade because I had a cousin that introduced me to that instrument. Upon entering Jackson Jr. High, I decided I wanted to continue my music education by learning clarinet and being a part of the Jackson Band program. I continued through 12th grade at Titusville High, then on to college as a Music Education Major.
After spending 15 years in Ministry, mostly working with church music programs, I accepted my first position as a chorus teacher in Brevard Public Schools. I eventually moved into a band position at Edgewood Middle School in Merritt Island where we saw the music program grow from 60 students to almost 400 students 10 years later. During that time, Edgewood became a Jr/Sr High School of choice. I most recently taught orchestra at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School. I’m also the Minister of Music at Gateway Community Church in Titusville.
I love teaching, both classroom and privately. I also love music. But my passion is to see and assist in the success of the individual student. I have seen many of my students become lifelong musicians, some of whom are currently music teachers. I enjoy a continuing connection with them and to hear of their career successes.
I recently, after much prayer and counsel, made a decision to retire from Brevard Public Schools after 22 years of teaching. I desire to teach privately, focusing on the individual student as my primary goal.
