1) Signing Illustrated by Mickey Flodin, 15 Chapters, End of Chapter Sheets: Homework, History, People, Terminology, Basic Handshapes

2) Internet: Lifeprint (Bill Vicars)/ASLUniversity (http://www.lifeprint.com/) Lessons`16-30, review Lessons 1-15.

Required Supplies:  Notebook, paper, pencils; access to the internet for homework

Pre-Requisites:  ASL 1; however, to receive a signed Foreign Language Fulfillment Form of 2 successfully completed years; a 70% end of year grade is required. Parents always welcomed and encouraged to attend class with their student!

Course Description: "No Voicing Class". Further continuation of ASL 1 with topics that include but are not limited to: basic vocabulary, grammar, history, fingerspelling, numbers, terminology and Deaf culture. The course will require at least 50% online contact-hours in drills, lessons and research.

 

Additional Topics and Perspectives: Parameters of a Sign and Poetry, Sign Language Continuum Perspective SE, PSE, ASL, Ear Anatomy: Basic, Glossing: Worship Signing, Additional People, Deaf Missions Devotions, Exploration of other Countries Sign Language

Class Procedures: Quizzes and Drills to warm up, application of homework online studies in class and the use of time for enacting, presentations, and glossing worship in Sign. A larger portion of the class designated for “Sign Only” with voicing only used for additional clarifications, voice-over interpretations and the glossing/grammar portions.

Day 2: Drills (FS/Numbers on LP), Signing Illustrated & Additional Sign Language Assignments

Day 3: Drills (FS/Numbers on LP), LP Lesson

Day 4: Drills (FS/Numbers on LP), LP Vocabulary Quiz

Day 5: Drills (FS/Numbers on LP), LP Video Practice Quiz

 

Grading:

All assignments and attendance are compiled, recorded and graded.

Description:  Spanish 2 reinforces the fundamental skills acquired by the students in Spanish 1. This course develops increased listening, speaking, reading and writing skill as well as deepening cultural awareness. Specific content to be covered is continuation of listening and oral skills acquired in Spanish 1. Reading and writing receive more emphasis, while oral communication remains the primary objective.

Description:  Spanish 3 reinforces the fundamental skills acquired by the students in Spanish 2. This course develops increased listening, speaking, reading and writing skills as well as deepening cultural awareness. Specific grammatical concepts presented are: the preterite, imperfect, future and conditional tenses, along with the use of direct and indirect object pronouns, and several other minor grammatical concepts. Reading and writing will receive emphasis, while oral communication remains the primary objective.
