Bible Studies MS Class: "Wisdom From Proverbs" (7th-9th)

Tuition: $20 per month ($100 per semester)

Material Fee: There are no material fees – we will only use our Bibles.  I will take care of any maps, pictures, or other media we may use during the class.

Required Text/Supplies: I will use a KJV Bible.  Other versions are welcomed.  However, memory verses should be memorized using the KJV. Students should bring their Bible with pen and paper

Pre-Requisites:  None

Description:  We will study the book of Proverbs and see where wisdom, being personified, calls for the simple to heed her instructions and learn.  Biblical principles will be shared to teach the class how to implement wisdom in their daily lives. 

 

Exploring American History (9th-12th)

Description:   Your high school student will gain a rich understanding of our nation's past by reading the history narrative and primary source documents and studying what the Bible says about issues and ideas in history. This course will fill the requirements for one American History Credit.

Description: Students explore the government of the United States from its beginning to the present with special emphasis on the Biblical pattern for government and on the U.S. Constitution. By learning about the operations of federal, state, and local government, and about issues facing our nation today, students become better equipped to understand, pray for, and be involved in our country’s government. With a narrative, conversational style, Exploring Economics guides your student on a fascinating and relevant tour through the world of economics. Your student will become a better steward of the money God provides and a valuable, informed contributor to the economy on the personal, household, local, national, and international level. This course will fill the requirements for ½ credit in American Government and ½ credit Economics.

 

Girls of American History: Birth of America (1764-1854) (3rd-6th)

Material Fee:  $15/semester (to cover costs of craft supplies and paper, food, or anything else for activities.)

Required Text:  No books need to be purchased, although it is good for the girls to read through the books as we go through them.  I have multiple copies, or you can borrow them from the library.

Supplies Needed: Please bring to class a 2inch 3 ring binder, to be left at ACE.  Other things may be needed throughout the year, but I will let you know of the items.

Description:  In this class we will be learning history through the stories of the American Girl Series.  Starting with Kaya, an American Indian living with her family and learning the traditions and stories that have been passed down through generations.  Next, we will meet Felicity who is growing up in the time of the American Revolution and the beginning of war.  We will then go to 1824 and meet Josefina, a girl who lives in New Mexico with her family on their Rancho.  Lastly, we will see into the life of Kirsten growing up in 1854.  She and her family come on a boat from Sweden to America.

 

Each week we will learn about the girls and the time they lived in.  We do this by lap booking, and crafts.  The students do not need to own an American Girl doll or the books.  You can check out all the books through the library. 

Know Your World Geography Class (7th - 9th)

Description:   We will be learning basic geographically terms and ideas as Hemisphere’s, directional, Longitude, Latitude, time zones, etc. Then going through each continent and learning physical geography and features, climates, vegetation, languages, and so much more. Saving North America for last to learn the States and Capitals. To learn all of this we will be using worksheets, projects, and games, which will be kept in a 3- ring binder.

Description:    In this class we will be learning about the world we live in right down the street you live on. There are 7 “topics” that I will be teaching on throughout the year. In each topic we will be taking multiple weeks to do activities, crafts, and reading books to have fun learning about planets, continents, USA, Florida, cities, etc. I provide all of the supplies for the classroom. The children just need to be ready to have fun and learn.

Description:  Our Star-Spangled Story is a one-year American history and literature course designed for students. It combines the flexibility and richness of a unit study with the simplicity of a textbook-based approach to history. In addition to narrative lessons about children and families in American history, students can learn through songs, dances, and hands-on activities. 

 

Uncle Sam to You Civics Class (6th-8th)

Description:   How do elections work? What does the President do all day? Who decides where stop signs go? What is Labor Day? Uncle Sam and You by Ray and Charlene Notgrass is a one-year civics course that answers these questions and many more.

This course will guide your student on an engaging tour of American government. Your student will learn about elected leaders and everyday citizens who have important roles to fill in making our country work.
