Affirmation of Commitment and Rules

I understand that in order for our family to participate in NBHSA Tuesday Co-op, we must fulfill the following requirements.

  • Understand that NBHSA is a Christ-centered interdenominational non-profit support group of home schooling families and functions as such.
  • Understand that the NBHSA Tuesday Co-op is a parent-student-teacher cooperative, and your involvement with your student’s education does not end with enrollment at the Tuesday Co-op.
  • Complete class registration in person at FBCM during Orientation Meeting or at the payment table during Tuesday Co-op.
  • Agree to pay: (1) Monthly tuition for classes. Full monthly tuition is due regardless of student’s attendance.(2) Any materials/lab fees per class or co-op, which are not part of the class tuition.
  • Agree to secure own textbooks, required books, and supplies necessary for the student’s success in the class.
  • Agree to donate: (1) $3 per month/per child ($12 -1st semester), ($15 - 2nd semester)for First Baptist Church of Mims to offset costs of building usage, janitorial services, and utility expenses, and (2) $5 per family per semester to offset NBHSA supplies. These fees are to be paid in full at the beginning of the semester.
  • Understand that class size is limited. Priority for registration for this year is first to returning Tuesday Co-op students and then open registration will begin. When classes are filled, students will be a placed on a waiting list as requested by the parent.
  • Understand that a teacher has the right to decide whether the student will be able to participate in a class.

Rules

1Typically, classes are held at First Baptist Church of Mims (FBCM) located at 2395 Kentucky Ave., Mims, FL, 32754. Classes may also be held at nearby facilities. We want to avoid causing any disturbances or disruptions to the church staff as they carry out the normal business and ministries of the church. Respect all church property. Do not touch any instruments or equipment in the facility.

2

Students are expected to take an active part in keeping up with homework assignments. Parents are expected to supervise homework at home to ensure daily progress. A parent may be contacted by the teacher or coordinator about a student repeatedly not having their homework or not keeping up with assigned reading. If the student continues in this manner, the student will not be allowed to remain in the class.

3Students are expected to attend classes regularly. If a student must miss class due to illness or a family trip, he is expected to contact the teacher and make up any reading assignments or homework that was missed before returning to class.

4Students on breaks between classes must study quietly or socialize peacefully in the designated areas. Students are not allowed to roam the halls. Students who are disturbing others will be corrected.

5

Students must maintain a respectful, courteous attitude toward parents, teachers, church staff, and fellow students at all times. There is to be no physical fighting, yelling, destructive behavior, smoking, or defacing of church property. No violent, obscene, or profane speech or gestures are allowed at any time. Students may not bring magazines, books, or trading cards with violent, profane, immoral, or gruesome themes to the co-op. No alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, weapons, or illegal drugs of any kind may be brought onto church property. Any student who violates these rules will be automatically expelled from Tuesday Co-op. Parents are ultimately responsible for their child’s behavior.

6Parents of students are required to work at the Co-op for a minimum of two hours per month performing designated jobs. This does not include teaching co-ops or classes. Extenuating circumstances such as pregnancy or surgery will be considered for short-term waivers.   If the parent does not work their designated time, they will be assessed $5 per hour and the money will be considered due on the first Tuesday of the following month. Any parent who works an outside job and not able to work at Co-op will also be assessed this money and out of consideration should pay at the beginning of each semester.

7Parents must supervise students’ siblings at all times. There is no baby-sitting service for younger siblings. Students may not invite friends to "visit" their classes or meet them on church property. Only students who are enrolled in Tuesday Co-op may attend classes.

8All food and drinks will be limited to the designated eating areas. Students may have lunch outside if they stay on church property. Instructors may eat in their classrooms.

Students must dispose of trash properly and take all personal items home each week. Students are expected to assist if occasionally asked to help set up chairs, move a table, or help an instructor carry items from one room to another. Students are also expected to assist in cleaning up after labs and any other activities that create a mess.

10Skateboarding, rollerblading, etc. is allowed only on the basketball court and not on any walkways or in the parking lot. The parents of the students who participate in these sports understand that they can be dangerous and take full responsibility for the student’s behavior. NBHSA encourages all parents to ensure that their child uses safety equipment while participating in these activities.

11No live animals may be brought to Tuesday School unless approved by the Co-op coordinator.

12Students may wear casual clothing (i.e., jeans, shorts, T -shirts, etc.) but must take care to avoid immodest clothing. Girls are not permitted to wear see-through clothing, strapless tops, halter-tops, or bare midriff tops. (Tops must be long enough to tuck into bottoms.)   Students’ pants/shorts/etc. must be worn so that undergarments do not show. Students may not wear clothing that depicts violent, profane, immoral, or gruesome words or pictures.

13Students who drive to Tuesday Co-op must enter church property through the proper entrance as indicated by the signs and drive slowly and cautiously while driving on church property. Students will not be allowed to play loud music from car radios or other sound equipment while driving on church property or while parked on church property. Any student who abuses their driving privileges on church property will not be allowed to drive to Tuesday Co-op and will have to make other arrangements for transportation.

14Older students who drive to Tuesday Co-op may not take other students away from the co-op during lunch or any other time without the express permission of both parents. It is the parents’ responsibility to discuss this issue with their children, to grant or deny permission appropriately, and to enforce their decisions. Parents are legally and morally responsible for the actions of their minor children who drive.

Thank you all for your cooperation and support!
